OUTDOOR WALK ON SNOW

As the temperature drops, people tend to stay indoors. Sometimes it's because they don't care about winter. But more often than not, it's because they're not equipped with the right equipment to stay comfortable in sub-zero temperatures. You are lucky! Following these winter hiking tips will ensure you have a great afternoon on the trail in any winter weather.

Merino wool. This fabric is hard to beat. Spend the money on some good base layers and you won't regret it. Check out 33 Minus.

Cover your face properly. This will make or break you in sub-zero temperatures. Especially if it's windy, you definitely can't be exposed to bare skin. Here's a great wool to check out.

Hand warmers help. If it's too cold, it's really nice to have something that actually generates heat! Get a nice hand warmer.

Use a good radar app. You need to know what kind of weather comes, especially in winter. Our current favorite is Storm.

Be prepared for all trail conditions. Winter trails can vary greatly from week to week. Having a pair of winter crampons and snowshoes in the car will be prepared for anything you encounter on the road.

Bring water and matches. You'll get cold faster if you're dehydrated, and making a small fire is a lot of fun in the winter.

Last but not least, burgers and beer! There's nothing better than a burger and a beer after walking a few miles in sub-zero temperatures. My wife and I often take 30-45 minutes to try new walks, which means new breweries. It allows you to spend a day full of new adventures.
